The sub box for the boot had to be a very compact design making the most of the space to the side of the boot area which is normally covered by factory trim panels.
The box is made from a combination of MDF, TAC Mat and Fibreglass, which has then been Dynamated. This gives a very solid enclosure for the subwoofer to work in.
The enclosure has been made to the exact requirements for the brand new JL W5 slimline subwoofer, so new in fact that they aren't even in the country yet! This gave yet another issue for us to get over, building a perfect enclosure for a sub we can't get yet!
So first step was to test fit the development basket we were given for the build. After the position of the subwoofer was decided we could start to make the enclosure, this consists of Fibreglass and MDF. the back of the enclosure has a layer of TAC MAT added to it to prevent any vibration once it is in position.

The finished enclosure takes up none of the load area in the boot, proving a subwoofer enclosure doesn't need to be huge for a good quality sound!
